There is a large disparity among brands and the amount of sodium used. For instance, some pasta sauces can have as much as 850mg, others are in the 350mg range, and no-salt-added sauces will have less than 50mg.

Other products that are relatively low in sodium, like tomato paste, can range anywhere from 0mg to 35mg per 2 tablespoons. That doesn’t sound like much, but if you’re using the entire amount, you’re now talking anywhere from 0mg to 175mg. Now that’s a big difference.

Most of us don’t have the time to compare the labels of 1,000s of grocery items. To help you, we’ve compiled a list of more than 7,000 low-salt brand-name products (140mg or less), which we’ve published in our Pocket Guide to Low Sodium Foods. Below are the lowest sodium foods (35mg or less) taken from the Pocket Guide.
